Gate, railing and fence welding repair at your home

People hit gates. Cars back into them, plows clip them, kids swing on them, and one winter of ice finishes the hinge. If you are looking for gate welding repair near me in the Capital Region, we come to the gate, weld it where it hangs, and leave it swinging true.

Same for iron railings and steel fences: a post rusted through at the base, a picket snapped, a top rail bent, a handrail that moves when you lean on it.

What breaks on gates, railings and fences

  • Hinges torn off the post or the gate frame
  • Gates sagging so the latch no longer meets
  • Latches bent, broken, or missing the keeper
  • Railing posts rusted through at the concrete
  • Pickets and balusters snapped off
  • Top rails bent by a plow or a vehicle
  • Fence sections pulled off the post

How we fix it on site

A gate that sags gets squared first, then the hinge gets rebuilt: new hinge, a plate on the post if the old metal is gone, welded and set so the latch meets. A railing post rusted at the base gets cut back to clean steel and a new section welded in, or a new base plate if the concrete is sound.

We weld mild steel and wrought iron style steel, which is what most driveway gates, porch railings and fence sections are made of. We grind the welds smooth and leave them ready for primer. Paint is yours, or ask and we will tell you what to use.

If a gate is beyond saving, we say so. Sometimes a new gate from a fence company is the right answer and we will tell you that too.

Questions people ask

Can you fix a gate without taking it down?

Usually yes. Most hinge and latch repairs are done with the gate hanging. If the frame needs squaring we take it off, square it, and re hang it the same visit.

Do you repair wrought iron railings?

Yes. Most porch and stair railings around here are steel or wrought iron style steel, and we weld them on site. Cast iron pieces too, with the process they need. Send a photo and we tell you which it is.

Do you install new gates and fences?

No. We repair what is there. For a new fence or gate we can tell you who installs them, and they call us when something breaks later.

Will the repair be painted?

We grind the weld clean and leave it ready for primer. Paint is yours to match, or ask and we will tell you what to use.

Can you fix a railing that is loose in the concrete?

If the post rusted off, yes, we weld on a new section or a base plate. If the concrete itself is broken, that part is a mason's job and we will say so.
